Style Tips for Busy Women! {Guest Post}

Do you ever feel overwhelmed trying to juggle being a successful woman in the corporate world with trying to look good and maintain an up-to-date style?

It’s no secret that your image affects people’s perception of you. It’s also common knowledge that your image affects the way you feel about yourself – when you look good, you feel good. However, as a career woman, you’re most likely struggling to find the time to put your energy into your image.

Perhaps your wardrobe is an over-full nightmare, leaving you frantically searching for an outfit every morning that ends up not letting you feel your best. Perhaps you find yourself stuck in a rut, always buying and wearing the same things, leaving you feeling frumpy and dull.

If any of the above is resonating with you, fear not! You’re not alone. We recognise the hurdles that come with personal style in the working world and have put together some easy to follow style tips for all the busy women out there.

1. Accessories are key

If you’re in a rush to get ready in the mornings, or don’t have all day to plan your outfits, then accessories are your lifeline! A monochromatic outfit, or understated dress can be changed drastically by simply changing accessories.

Adding a piece of statement jewellery to a well-fitted pair of trousers and shirt can entirely transform the look. Changing up the jewellery and wearing the same outfit with different jewellery can give you multiple different looks.

Jewellery isn’t the only avenue to explore when it comes to accessorising. Scarves are a classic and feminine way to add flair to a simple outfit, and gives you the opportunity to add a pop of colour to neutral outfits. Another place to explore that requires little time, is with hats. A great hat can give an outfit a completely new personality.

2. Less is more

When applied in the world of style, minimalism is a trend that will never go out of style and how simplicity can be key in pulling off any outfit.

When putting together an outfit that follows the notion of less being more, it’s important to keep in mind that neutral colours work best, staple items are key, quality is better than quantity and that fun is still welcomed!

3. Wardrobe Review

If you’re fighting an over-full wardrobe every morning, you’re definitely not making the most of the little time that you have for style. An over-full wardrobe is a symptom of impulsive buying habits, keeping items that aren’t right for your body and holding onto mistake purchases because you feel guilty about the money wasted.

A cluttered cupboard is the easiest way to feel discouraged about your style. It might be time you performed a wardrobe review. Set aside some time alone with your wardrobe and go through each item, getting rid of what is not essential. Work with a full-length mirror and get rid of anything that is not flattering to your image. This includes all the mistake purchases, as well as any items that don’t fit you. It’s self-destructive to hold onto things in hopes that they will fit later.

4. Winning Shoes

Having a decent selection of understated flat shoes can be a life saver on days where heels just aren’t going to cut it.

Nude sandals and flats are a great way to add length to your legs, and they are also easily paired with most colours. If you’re on your feet a lot during your busy day, you’ll want to make sure that you have chosen a pair of shoes that won’t hassle you or hold you back.
